I am an adoptee, and you can read my personal testimony to learn how that impacted my conversion and sustaining faith in Jesus Christ and His word.

Here I wish to share 3 Scripture verses that I believe speak to the real significance of every individual who may be wrestling with their identity because of being an adopted child.

Jeremiah 29:11-14 (NIV) “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”

NOTE: God’s plans are bigger than any family problems, behavior patterns, negative past, or unknowns of life –so always trust in His Word through faith, not relying on your own feelings or in the opinions of others.

Galatians 3:26-29 (NIV) “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

NOTE: What matters is not the person you once were, your nationality, or your family background, but who you are in Jesus Christ, where you are going, your trust in God’s promises for your eternal inheritance, and your willing humbleness to take responsibility for your own life now.

John 1:9-12 (NIV) “The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”

NOTE: God had only One son, who as the Savior of mankind was rejected by His own people, the Jews, and was adopted by another people, the Gentiles, likewise God in redemption adopts us each individually, loves us as His own, and assumes responsibility for our future.
