The Pre-Trib Rapture: A Sequence of Events

Here is a 15-point sequence of events as taught by the pre-tribulation rapture belief, sometimes called dispensationalism in eschatology…

  1. The Lord Jesus Himself descends from His Father’s House where He has been preparing a place for His bride, the church.  John 14:1-3 • 1 Thessalonians 4:16
  2. He will come to receive us to Himself. John 14:1-3
  3. He will resurrect those who have died – those who have fallen asleep and whom we will not precede. 1 Thessalonians 4:14-15
  4. He will shout as He descends with a “loud command” and it will take place in a “twinkling of eye.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16 • 1 Corinthians 15:52
  5. We will hear the voice of the archangel. 1 Thessalonians 4:16
  6. We will hear the trumpet call of God, the last trumpet for the church (not to be confused with the seventh trumpet of Revelation 11:15).   1 Thessalonians 4:16
  7. The dead in Christ will rise from their graves, made incorruptible having their spirits reunited with them. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
  8. Then we who are alive and watching will be changed into immortal and incorruptible bodies. 1 Corinthians 15:51-53
  9. We will be caught-up or raptured together in the air. 1 Thessalonians 4:17
  10. We will meet the Lord Jesus in the air.  1 Thessalonians 4:17
  11. We will have a reunion with our resurrected loved-ones in the clouds with our Lord.  1 Thessalonians 4:17
  12. We will be taken by our Lord back to His Father’s house as promised. John 14:3
  13. From that point of time on we will always be with the Lord.  1 Thessalonians 4:17
  14. During the 7-year tribulation on earth (Matthew 24:21), the Lord and His bride will be working out the intimacy of planning the governance of their new home together through the judgement seat of Christ. Romans 14:10 • 2 Corinthians 5:10 • 1 Corinthians 3:11-15
  15. The marriage supper of the Lamb will take place in celebration of the Bride and Bridegroom, then the Lord, with us, will return to earth again to finish what He started in His first advent, and this time to rule for 1000-years. Revelation 19:6-11 • Revelation 20:1-10 • Isaiah 65:19-25
