Ask for More
“Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” — John 4:10 NIV
Jesus tells the Samaritan women at the well, If you only knew who I am you would be asking for more. The truth is we are not much different from the Samaritan women because if we truly understood the work and mission of the Son of God for fallen humanity, we would be asking more, too.
We think according to the limited capabilities of earth while the Lord stands ready to grant us needs that have eternal supernatural consequences. We see solutions with our finite eyes while God sees solutions with His infinite eyes. Our will is often stunted by the shortness of time but our Heavenly Father holds all things in view of an unlimited possibility.
The point is not that we can ask for more in terms of abundance or wild prosperity, but that we can ask the Lord for more than a band aid and receive from Him the lasting solution or the ultimate outcome. Whatever the stress, anxiety, or difficulty, you can confidently ask Jesus.
