“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” — Joshua 1:8 NIV

You can always tell what someone is passionate about because they like talking about it. Their words, however, are just the result of constant thoughts on that topic that they are so passionate about.

Here, in Joshua 1:8, the Lord is telling us to keep our thoughts on His Word and the result will be our prosperity and success. Otherwise our sinful human nature will have us mentally rehearsing our own negativity. Instead, when we meditate on the verses of Scripture we begin to live according to its empowering principles.

I realize that most of us do not have large portions of the Bible memorized enough to naturally meditate on it day and night, so here is two things you can easily do: 1) memorize just one Bible promise that speaks to you; 2) follow a verse-a-day email devotional so you can reference the verse throughout the day with a quick glance at that email on your phone.
