Somewhere along the line of my journey with CrossHope Chapel, it occurred to me that my calling in this mission was one of an “organic pastor” in philosophy, approach, and ministry.

I want to give you a definition for the term “organic pastor” which is a term that I like to use when talking about those called of God to pastoral ministry through an organic development of church planting. Partly, I am sharing this definition because I want to start using this term in my writing and I want to be clear in an effort to reach and equip others who are also called to an “organic pastor” type of ministry.

ORGANIC PASTOR: A man called by God to pastoral care shepherding within the context of organic, simple, or house church ministry, who senses his affirmed spiritual gift of “pastor and teacher” as presented in Ephesians 4:11, and as exercised in an organic way (not by dictates of denominational or organizational leadership protocols but by the promise of Zechariah 4:6).
