Water to Wine
In John 2:1-12 we read the story of Jesus’ first public miracle, turning water into wine. You don’t have to be a faithful church member to be familiar with this account because it’s frequently cited in the secular world.
John 2:11 states “What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him” (NIV). This miracle and other works of Jesus has one purpose, and that is to bring glory to the Lord.
It’s amazing when you consider that Jesus created something out of nothing. He took impure water from an impure cistern used for self righteous regulation and recreated it into refreshingly drinkable grace – wine.
So think about this next time you find yourself in doubt with your own cistern of self and feeling that it’s hopeless, or it’s impossible, or it’s doomed, or it’s worrisome, whatever that “water” is in you just do as Jesus says and draw in faith and see Him turn your life and those circumstances into refreshing drinkable wine.
